On December 2, 1971, Marie-Hélène de Rothschild organized a costume ball at the Château de Ferrières to celebrate the centenary of Marcel Proust’s birth. Yves Saint Laurent created costumes inspired by the Belle Époque for Nan Kempner, Hélène Rochas, Jane Birkin, and Marie-Hélène de Rothschild herself.
