Nan Kempner perfectly embodied American elegance. Her wardrobe contained over a thousand garments, 376 of which were designed by Yves Saint Laurent. The exhibition presented at the Fondation followed
the 2006 exhibition Nan Kempner: American Chic, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
